Vegan Village has posted a plea for forever homes for 10,000 hens in the UK.
My good friend Kim aka Veganessa and Midnight Rabbits brought this to our attention. Annette from Dragon House of Yuen has also created a blog post here which explains the situation.
If you can help please get in touch with littlehenrescue@googlemail.com. Any hens that aren’t rescued by June 28, 2009 will be slaughtered.
Thank you.

For all those vegans and vegetarians in New York City, taking a visit to this bakery is a must! Baby Cakes is located at 248 Broome Street (between Orchard and Ludlow), New York with a new bakery opening in Los Angeles very shortly.
The bakery has a vast menu range and they deliver nationwide (48 states) too. From cup cakes to cookies, apple pie to scones - you’ll find something you really like here. All their products are dairy, egg and soy free with most items being gluten free. They do use spelt in some products which may not be suitable for coeliacs. They do not use refined sugar and several of their recipes are sweetened with low GI agave nectar instead.
For those who would like to make their own vegan cupcakes, Erin McKenna (owner of Baby Cakes NYC) has launched her new cookbook which currently ranks 144 of all books on Amazon.com but is currently number 1 in the three categories of Sweets, Vegan and Desserts at Amazon.com as of today (5/15/09). This is an amazing achievement for a book that was launched just 15 days ago. Click here to get your copy now!
Congratulations Erin!

Whilst surfing the net I came across this website for vegetarian friendly shoes. This company is based in the UK but they ship internationally. They have a price convertor at the bottom of the page for foreign currencies. Prices are extremely reasonable too.
Check it out. http://www.vegetarian-shoes.co.uk/
